EDUCATION WITH A DICTATOR IN VILHENA-RO: history and memories at Escola Castelo Branco

The cities conserve spatial and temporal logics that reflect their historicals and memorials marks, to the same extent that they hide others. This work presents the results of the research that investigates the remnants of the military dictatorship in Vilhena-RO from the cartography of the city, as well as the memories of the employees and the history of the Castelo Branco School. Here, concepts around history and memory are associated with the military dictatorship, the history of Vilhena and the remnants of that period in the city through interviews with school employees. It is noticed that 2/3 of these employees are against the change of the name of the school and even the 5 educators who do not know anything about Castelo Branco prefer not to change the homage.
