Abstract

Biological Nitrogen Fixation is fundamental for sustaining life and involves complex concepts in biology, ecology, and chemistry, necessitating teaching methodologies that enhance student comprehension. This study was conducted with first-year high school students at Escola Estadual Odolfo Soares in Ponte Alta do Tocantins, Brazil, and was structured in three stages: theoretical introduction, interactive practical lesson, and assessment. In the practical component, engaging activities simulated the conversion of non-assimilable nitrogen (N₂) into an assimilable form (NH₃), enhancing student understanding of the process. Materials such as A4 sheets, crayons, plastic bags, baking soda, and dye were used to visually represent the reaction elements and demonstrate a chemical reaction. Evaluation through questionnaires indicated that the interactive, hands-on methodology effectively supported learning, stimulating curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Moreover, it fostered collaborative skills, teamwork, and communication among students.
