The objective of this work was to evaluate the productivity, stability and adaptability of 29 soybean genotypes [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] in six environments in Mato Grosso State. The experimental design was randomized blocks with four replications. The trials were conducted in the 2004/05 agricultural year in the municipalities of Rondonópolis, Campo Verde, Nova Brasilândia and Vera. To evaluate adaptability and stability, the methods of Annicchiarico (1992) and Centroid were used. The average grain yield ranged from 3054 kg ha-1 (Rondonópolis III) to 3746 kg ha-1 (Nova Brasilândia), with an overall average of 3292 kg ha-1. Based on the Annicchiarico and Centroid methodologies, the SL 1831, SL 1923, SL 627, SL 2280 and SL 310 strains were classified as the most productive, adapted and stable, and there is therefore coherence between these methodologies. The SL 1831, SL 627, SL 2280 and SL 310 soybean lines were recommended for broad environmental conditions and the SL 818 lineage for specific favorable environment conditions, in view of grain yield.
