Abstract

The present work consists of offering an innovative method to teach quadratic functions to a 9th grade class in elementary school. The proposal aims to use the Winplot software as an auxiliary tool in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics, both for teachers and students. In addition, other tools were employed, such as algebraic, graphic, and calculation windows, which allow for the visualization of the graph and the understanding of some concepts related to the function. This methodology presents itself as a strategy for students to assimilate abstract content in a dynamic way, having the possibility to visualize the functions through the manipulation of commands, thus promoting a broad development in what they consider more complex. Therefore, this work is a pedagogical proposal directed to Mathematics teachers in elementary school, with the purpose of improving teaching techniques and verifying if students can acquire practical knowledge of the content, encouraging their interest and participation during classes.
