Metáforas de amor e morte em Bodas de sangue, de García Lorca

Abstract

This scientific article presents a critical reading of Bodas de sangue by Federico García Lorca, spanish poet and playwright, showing in the text some characteristics of the Aristotelian tragedy, highlighting the act of violence committed within a conjugal alliance and the action of misfortune that leads the spectator to fear and pity. We analyze the main metaphors to understand the meaning of the tragic in the text. Research shows that fire, water, and blood, intertwined with the expressive vigor of metaphor, are the elements that unleash tragedy, pointing to the inevitability of fate. In theoretical terms, we resort to the conceptual approach of metaphor proposed by Geroge Lakoff and Marx Johnson, in contrast to the Aristotelian theory of metaphorical phenomenon.
