TRÂNSITO DO LÉXICO NO USO DA LÍNGUA DE SINAIS AMERICANA (ASL) PARA A LÍNGUA BRASILEIRA DE SINAIS

Abstract

The objective of this work is to present a study on the linguistic phenomena of Linguistic Interference and Lexical Transit, comparing lexical elements of American Sign Language (ASL) present in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras). The corpus for this investigation was collected from the HandSpeak and Spreadthesign websites, The American Sign Language Handshape Dictionary, the Illustrated Trilingual Encyclopedic Dictionary of Brazilian Sign Language, and the signbank of Brazilian Sign Language - Signbank, developed by the Federal University of Santa Catarina. A comparison is made between dictionaries/sites of the two sign languages, based on the observation of videos from the social media of deaf individuals using ASL signs. The theoretical framework for this study is based on the research conducted by Machado (2016), Costa (2018), and the typological classification model organized by Carvalho (2009). The study is qualitative and exploratory, grounded in the theoretical assumptions of Sociolinguistics, especially regarding the theme of languages in contact.
