POPULATION AND MIGRATION IN TEXTBOOKS OF PRIMARY EDUCATION: THE REFERENCE THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL

Abstract

The present study aimed to demonstrate the values ​​of the population and migratory contents, to reflect how these contents are being approached, as well as their importance in basic education textbooks. For the accomplishment of the research was done a bibliographical survey on pertinent subjects and visits in schools of the Municipality of Irati / PR, for the separation of different didactic books used in Geography. The textbooks are fundamental for education, since they help the teacher during the classes, giving support for the elaboration of lesson plans and contributing to the teaching and learning, since it is not possible to discuss geographic space, without relating it with the population . In the great majority of books, population contents are camouflaged by statistical data, hiding the problems and conflicts, generated and linked to the population, but for a long time it is known that the Geography of the Population is no longer purely quantitative, and began to adopt Contexts and qualitative analyzes that impregnated with the textbook may be of interest to the students, since they are often not fond of mathematics. In total, three collections of books were analyzed, highlighting the differences between them, the specificities and the approaches of the population contents.
