Abstract

The world economy is constantly changing, in which it is increasingly aggregating in society. Multilevel marketing can be considered as a system that has a significant impact on this economy, although it is not such a recent business model, only in the last few years that in Brazil this system has been creating more force, where companies that previously only worked with the direct sales, then began to aggregate multilevel marketing into their business system, significantly increasing their results. However, along with this ancestry, another system, the financial pyramid, is also present. The fact is, there is still an association of these systems as if they were the same thing. Faced with this problem, this study aims to establish the differences between multilevel marketing and the financial pyramid system, as well as to point out the legal aspects that permeate them. For the construction of this work, a bibliographic and descriptive research was carried out. Finally, what we can conclude is that multilevel marketing is a legal system, unlike the financial pyramid system, in addition to already being considered the business of the 21st century.
