Alice's adventures in wonderland: from literary to cinematographic art

Abstract

This work aims to explore how the process of adaptation of a literary work works for a cinematographic work. For this, it will be presented conceptions of what is considered art and of what is seen as translation, especially the intersemiotic translation. In this way, we will see how these two terms are related to the translations made by the cinema from classical texts, as is the case of the Adventures of Alice in Wonderland published in 1865 by Lewis Carroll. This classic of children's literature had several adjustments to other sign systems, one of which was the film Alice in Wonderland (2010), directed by Tim Burton. In addition to understanding how this intersemiotic works, we will also see the similarities and differences in both productions. For the realization of this research were used texts of authors such as Jorge Coli, in the context of art, and Julio Plaza, with respect to the intersemiotic translation.
