The transmission of the other's discourse in autobiographical prose

In its formal varieties, the self-referential writings that address life in the sphere of literary discourse are constant in the present time. The autobiography, as one of these most traditional and recurrent forms, reflects and refracts the trends of a contemporary literary making, representing the marks of the existence of the self and the others that undeniably constitute the experience in its social orientation. Considering the prose (BAKHTIN, 2015) as a compositional organization pattern of the autobiography genre, this article aims to analyze characteristics of the discursive construction of what is established by autobiographical prose. The basis of the theoretical-methodological considerations presupposes an approximation between contrastive discourse analysis (von MÜNCHOW, 2021) and the perspective of dialogical theory, in the works of Bakhtin (2015; 2018) and Volóchinov (2017). The element of comparison consists of the concept of autobiographical prose and the elements that constitute it. The corpus is composed of discursive sequences in two autobiographies that represent contexts of repression in distinct discursive cultures: weiter leben. Eine Jugend, by Austrian Ruth Klüger (1992) and Ainda estou aqui, by Brazilian Marcelo Rubens Paiva (2015). Three main trends for the transmission of the other's discourse in autobiographical prose and their functionalities are highlighted in the conclusions.
