This study intends to analyze Xosé Lois García’s poetic production, whose poetic corpus is vast and includes a plurality of themes. His poems have as a theme, for instance, wars, battles, violence against his people and land, against nature, and the love for Galician people, for nature, for friends. In this way, the analysis is about a resistance speech, which talks about Galiza’s historical moment, Francoism, that enrolls the author into committed literature tradition, through the building of an individual who directly informs the social problems through the literature. The results indicate that Garcia’s poems, even those about love, happiness, and beauty using delicate and simple verses, can be read as an instrument of resistance to the authoritarian state, whatever it is, especially the one that has oppressed the Galician people, as well all the humankind. This is a critical-analytical study sustained by bibliographic support about literary criticism and analysis, engagement and literature, and domination and resistance, highlighted by Bosi (2002), Torres (2015), Denis (2002), Moura (2009).
