Abstract

The Dendê (palm oil) production chain in the state of Pará has been developing in recent years, putting
the state in a prominent position at the national level as the largest producer of the oilseed, with 164,410
hectares of planted area and an average production yield from 2015 to 2019 of approximately 15,200 kg/ha.
Due to the various applications of products generated from this raw material, continuous studies on the
economic and sustainable feasibility of this supply chain are necessary. In this context, the present study
aims to evaluate the main relevant aspects of palm oil production in the state of Pará, presenting an overview
of the dynamics of the supply chain as well as identifying the obstacles related to palm oil production. To this
end, issues related to the production and acquisition of raw materials and the inclusion of family farmers,
supply and demand, consumer market, logistics, and relevant legislation were discussed.
