Abstract

ABSTRACT

Objectives: to register cases of secondary infections and coinfection in patients hospitalized for COVID-19, in a Public Hospital in Palmas-TO. Methodology: descriptive study with secondary data, using the municipality of Palmas as the unit of analysis, based on records of COVID 19 and secondary infections in the years 2021 to 2022. Results and discussion: 5.2% of all patients with COVID-19 presented secondary bacterial infection, with prevalence of multiresistant strains of A. baumannii, in the respiratory site, with a predominance of women as the most affected gender and the age group of the elderly. Conclusion: it is noted the importance of greater precautions with patients hospitalized for serious illnesses, especially in an intensive care environment, and the development of strategies aimed at minimizing the circulation of resistant strains in the hospital environment.
