The purpose of this paper, which reflects on the issue of the dignity of ephemeral governmental responsibility in relation to the timeless figure of the State under Covid-19, is to highlight how every government has sought to pervert state legality by invoking the Hippocratic emergency. The objective leads us to begin by analysing the premises of a political-Hippocratic praxis in order to draw attention to the foundations of the urgent motivations behind a governmental anti-epidemic-pandemic response. It then endeavours to emphasise how epidemiological action that problematises being and truth's state is always likely to undermine the rule of law. It concludes by highlighting the implications of the utopianism of impunity for political-Hippocratic totalitarianism, in order to make it clear that no emergency will ever invalidate the conviction that politics will always be haunted by the prospect of having to answer for its actions and decisions. The urgency of any eminently political national epidemiological response, even when constrained by the homicidal virulence of a virus, cannot justify impunity for excessive government action.
