Abstract

The academic monitoring and tutoring contributes to the training of students and serves as a pedagogical support tool through which the student-monitor and the assisted have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge. This study describes the perception of students of the State University of Southwest of Bahia, assisted by two methods of aiding learning, monitoring and mentoring, both offered by this institution. Data were collected from the application of a structured questionnaire to 18 monitored and 6 tutorings. The statistical analysis was of the descriptive type, expressed in absolute and relative frequency. The search for monitoring and mentoring during the semester was relatively low, compromising the clarification of the doubts. In spite of this, the students recognized the importance of the aid programs for the best development in the disciplines and consolidation of the subjects. Students who need pedagogical help to better understand the contents are limited, because the academic universe requires extracurricular activities with an extensive workload. This university demand requires the student to prioritize some activities, underestimating others of equal importance for their academic performance.
