Abstract

School archives are often seen as mere document repositories, neglected as sectors of lesser importance. However, archival practice goes beyond being a simple source of research or document storage. Its collection can reflect not only historical value, but above all the organizational culture of the institution itself. We seek to address a reflection that can contribute to the discussion of research produced in the field of Professional and Technological Education (EPT). The objective is to reflect on an apparent state of duality identified in public administration. This work offers a bibliographic research that investigates the epistemological currents in the archival field, with a focus on the work of professionals who deal with document management in the school environment. In developing this study, we opted for bibliographic research based on existing material, using as references authors who deal with this theme, among them Frigotto, Souza, Le Goff, and Vieira. Taking as a starting point the work of archival science, as a field of knowledge in constant evolution, which inevitably receives influences from other areas of knowledge, we suggest a reflection on the perceptions of a category of workers who are sometimes seen as protagonists and sometimes read as invisible in the process.
