Abstract

This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the historical evolution of public policies in vocational and technological education in Brazil, focusing on their integration with regular secondary education. The research discusses in detail the challenges faced and the progress achieved in the articulation between general education and technical training, highlighting the legal frameworks and socio-environmental contexts that have been fundamental in shaping this trajectory. The central objective of this study is to examine the historical evolution and implementation processes of public policies in vocational and technological education, which are interconnected with secondary education, offering a descriptive map that contextualizes, temporally and spatially, the legal frameworks and theoretical debates that influenced the relationship between basic general education and professional qualifications. The methodology adopted for this descriptive research is qualitative in nature, using a literature review as the primary tool to achieve the proposed objectives. This study, therefore, contributes significantly to the education research agenda by addressing the curricular integration between regular education and vocational technical training within secondary education.
