Abstract

This article is based on an experience report about the production of the podcast “Foca na Pauta,” developed as part of the creation of the Digital Media Center, supported by the Pedagogical Innovation Project of the Federal University of Tocantins. The main goal of the project was to reduce university dropout rates by explaining course content and presenting the program through its social media channels, aiming to foster greater identification and a sense of belonging among undergraduate students. In this context, we present the podcast as the main medium and tool used, considering the growing popularity of this media format and its ease of distribution and archiving, making it available for consultation at any time. Metrics indicate higher audience reach and listener retention in explanatory episodes about the Journalism course, and that regular publishing strengthens the relationship between listeners and the program. As a pedagogical innovation, “Foca na Pauta” creates space for new content-driven productions, serving as a scientific communication product in future opportunities.
