Abstract

The use of human cadavers is the preferable didactic means for the study of Human Anatomy due to its reliability to the living body. The process of obtaining them for educational purposes is complex. Faced with these difficulties, the Laboratory of Human Anatomy (LAH) of the Federal University of Tocantins, Palmas campus, was composed of a large amount of worn cadaveric parts. In order to optimize the anatomical teaching-learning process and value the given cadaver, a protocol was elaborated for the restoration of anatomical pieces. The methodological stages of this proposal were: cataloging, diagnosis, selection and restoration of cadaveric pieces, using complete or adapted osteotechnics, with different maceration processes, and the sectioning of pieces. 45 parts of the LAH were selected for improvement. Maceration with water and cooking enabled greater use of the structures, the modified osteotechnics resulted in articulated wet pieces and the sections provided unprecedented teaching materials. In view of the results obtained, an improvement in the quality of the restored parts was observed. This protocol will exponentially benefit the quality of practical anatomy classes, extension and research activities, in addition to reaffirming respect for cadaveric bodies entrusted to the study of Human Anatomy.
