Abstract

Vegetated areas are characterized as attenuating environmental comfort in urban centers, providing environments for leisure and rest, contributing to the emotional stability and psychological comfort of the inhabitants, and promoting environmental services, such as reduced erosion, energy savings with shading, control of noise and atmospheric pollution, retention of water in the soil, increase in relative humidity of the air and channeling or obstruction of winds. The aim of this work is to evaluate the environmental performance of the square on the ARSO 23 block, seeking to understand the relationships between vegetation and thermal performance and to improve the use of the Envi-met software for simulations of environmental comfort in the context of the Cerrado biome. The objective is to use the tool for urban planning, in the context of implantation of vegetated areas. The research was carried out with bibliographic research and simulation tests in the software, of three different scenarios: without afforestation, with the current vegetation, and with an increase of 20% of vegetation cover in relation to the current situation, according to pre-established criteria for positioning the new trees. As a result of the analysis, it is concluded that the addition of afforestation uniformed the heat spots in the area, demonstrating how the effect of afforestation extends to nearby areas
