Abstract

It deals with an excerpt on the current scenario (until October 2021) of geographical indications in the northern region of Brazil, bringing aspects involving Brazilian legislation on GIs, basic guide on orders, values. The methodology adopted involves a bibliographic and documentary search, where several national and international databases were searched, as well as a search system on the INPI website itself, and to obtain more accurate results, a search was made in the application tracking spreadsheet/records of indications. using CTRL + F. The results achieved show that there are currently 12 GIs in the northern region, 9 for Indication of Origin and 3 for Designations of Origin. The results also show that the most recurrent product is “Cassava flour”, the first GI in the region is from the state of Tocantins, while the newest is the Denomination of Origin “Mamirauá” for Pirarucu managed in Amazonas.
