Abstract

Mathematics is seen by many as a discipline that is difficult to understand, but when projects are applied to its teaching, there will be greater interaction among students in the classroom, making the teaching-learning process more meaningful. Thus, we seek to show in the present work that extension projects contribute significantly to the teaching of Mathematics, an example we have are the Olympics in Mathematics that add importance to the learning of mathematical concepts, since they are made to stimulate studies in the area, in addition to seeking to identify talents. Thus, our main focus is the Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad of Public Schools (OBMEP) and its reflexes for Brazilian education, so we seek to show through a bibliographic search its relevance for the students who participate and are classified and the importance for the high school in the context of content understanding.
