Abstract

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the female prison population. In the last survey carried out in 2019, the numbers found are alarming, with a growth of six times compared to the year 2000. Nowadays, the execution of the sentence is not only aimed at imprisonment, but also at reintegration into society. According to the Criminal Execution Law, it is the State's duty to prevent crime and guide the return to coexistence in society, and this assistance is also extended to the egress. This study aimed to reflect on the pillars of resocialization that help women who have been discharged from the penitentiary system to return or enter the labor market. As a methodological procedure, exploratory and qualitative bibliographic research was used. The analysis was based on articles collected on the CAPES journal website, in addition to data from the Penitentiary Department (DEPEN); and Projects: the Regression Project, the Alvorada Project, the Responsa Institute, the Beginning Again Program and the Gerando Falcoes. The results showed that the absence of public policies, professional unpreparedness and prejudice are the biggest barriers to the resocialization of graduates. Thus, it is extremely important to create and manage mechanisms to generate opportunity, as work is an important condition for them to support themselves and their families, reducing criminal recidivism and enabling effective citizenship.
