Use of the chemistry textbook by basic education teachers in a county in Amazonas

Abstract

The textbook is one of the main didactic resources used by teachers of Basic Education. This instrument has a fundamental role in the choice and evidence of the contents to be addressed in Chemistry classes, occupying an important space in the debate of public policies aimed at education. Thus, the objective of this work was to analyze how the Chemistry textbook has been used by teachers of Basic Education Chemistry in public schools in a county in the interior of Amazonas. The survey was carried out with 10 teachers, who answered a questionnaire and participated in a semi-structured interview. It was noticed that teachers cite didactic language and little contextualization as factors that hinder the use of books in the classroom. In addition, teachers understand that it should not be limited to just this resource, and that is why they use websites, blogs and videos in order to lead their students to a better understanding of the contents covered.
