SOB O OLHAR DAS TEORIAS DO IMAGINÁRIO: MITOS E SÍMBOLOS EM A MÃE DA MÃE DE SUA MÃE E SUAS FILHAS, DE MARIA JOSÉ SILVEIRA

Abstract

This work aimed to perform a reading of the novel Her Mother's Mother's Mother and Her Daughters, published in 2002, by the writer Maria José Silveira, based on the imaginary theories. For this, it was used as theoretical apparatus works such as Myth and Reality, by Mircea Eliade, The Psychoanalysis of Fire, by Gaston Bachelard, Fields of the Imaginary and The imaginary, by Gilbert Durand, besides the Dictionary of Symbols, by Jean Chevalier and Alain Gheerbrant. In the work by Silveira it is possible to distinguish the writing of a narrative that recreates the emergence of Brazilian women; this factor makes it possible the association of the novel with a myth of origin, according to the postulates by Eliade. The identification of a myth of origin, as well as the presence of a series of other aspects related to mythical narratives and symbols, is part of what establishes the relation between the book that was analyzed and the imaginary theories. The main result of this proposal is an interpretative proposal in which Her Mother's Mother's Mother and Her Daughters recovers, by means of fiction, part of the untold History of the women of Brazil.
