For Hegel, freedom presupposes norms and impersonal institutions are indispensable in the mediation of intersubjective relations. Sérgio Buarque de Holanda explains how the cordial subjects deal with difficulty with the normative constraints trying to make them more flexible or to circumvent them. We intend to explain how and for what causes we develop a type of sociability averse to impersonal normativity, prioritizing direct personal contact and intimacy.
