In telling about one of the processes of construction of my doctoral thesis in education, I affirm the predominant ways in which cartography is taught in schools. Whether by reproducing as a static image of spatial phenomena, or as a discourse that sets the world reading, school cartography was considered a problem in research. However, rather than defining another method of teaching cartography, this thesis chooses to create resistances in geographic education by approaching contemporary art. What can contemporary art in front of what seems to not move with school cartography? I applied, for the invention and opening to the sensitive, other cartographic aesthetics from the immersion in embroidery workshops, collage and engravings. Throughout the thesis, I exercised thought through the power of these artistic tools, with geographic education as part of a formative process entangled by art and education. By affirming the desire to operate with the cartographic images as expression and sensation while tracing on the cartography school possibilities of exercising the imagination and other ways of reading the world. Something still undefined, provisional, not found in the manuals of teaching methodologies, which may still be in transit.
