Abstract

This study critically analyzes the risks of intersemiotic disinformation caused by the use of generative artificial intelligences (GAIs) in the audio description of artistic images intended for visually impaired students (PwVI) in the school environment. The research used an unpublished authorial image submitted to the ChatGPT and Gemini platforms to generate automated audio descriptions, which were analyzed discursively, with critical validation by PwVI consultants. The results indicated symbolic erasures, aesthetic simplifications, and lack of sensitive contextualization, highlighting risks to aesthetic enjoyment and inclusion. Although these are promising technologies, this study concludes that the use of AI tools requires ethical and pedagogical mediation. Generative AIs do not replace listening, subjectivity, and human experience, demanding teacher training and grounded inclusive policies.
