Abstract

COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus of the coronavirus family, more precisely by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, it has affected and has been affecting the way of life of all people worldwide, being characterized as a pandemic to which it is highly contagious. This work seeks to provide an overview of the problems generated by COVID-19, in order to understand the impacts on family farming in Brazil. The methodology adopted was to carry out a basic exploratory research. As a procedure, bibliographic research was used and configured with a qualitative purpose. The research sites included websites, periodicals, magazines, books and various types of articles available for online access. 

Author Biographies

Carmem Rejane Pacheco Porto, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande

He holds a degree in Social Studies from the University of Ijuí (1985), a degree in History from the Faculdade Porto-Alegrense (1988), a degree in Geography from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1997), a Master's degree in Geography from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Sul (2001) and a PhD in Geography from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2011). She is currently a professor at the Institute of Human and Information Sciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande. Area of expertise: Geography and Environment and Human and Agrarian Geography. She works in research lines of Tourism Development, Territorial Analysis and Sustainability and Environmental and Territorial Management. It integrates the ARCA-Nucleus of Agricultural and Cultural Studies (FURG) and the TEIA-Group of Interdisciplinary Studies of Environment and Territory.
