Abstract

In Brazil, despite the investments made in recent years, there is still no universal access to basic sanitation services. In addition to harming individual health, it increases healthcare costs for treating illnesses. The objective of this study will be to contextualize and analyze the number of hospital admissions due to DRSAI in the cities of the Rio Lontra and Corda Basin, from 2018 to 2022, characterizing the epidemiological profile of affected individuals, verifying the existence of a correlation between the incidence and the conditions of basic sanitation in these cities. This is a descriptive study in which secondary data made available in the Notifiable Diseases Information System will be sought. With the results of this research, it is possible to identify the cases, incidence and mortality recorded in the cities that make up the Lontra and Corda River Basin. The study shows that even today, DRSAI represent an important Public Health issue for one of the main basins in the state, Lontra and Corda. It provides a recent overview of the health situation in this area and highlights priority population segments, such as adult women and children, and reveals a high cost for the public health system.
