Analysis of hospital morbimortality’s behavior among elderly people in Iguassu

A contribution to Public Health through the sanitary vision

Abstract

This is a retrospective cross-sectional epidemiological study, with an analytical and descriptive nature, through a quantitative approach, which investigated the behavior of hospital morbidity and mortality of the elderly in Foz do Iguaçu - PR, from 2010 to 2018, through an online consultation with the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), being interpreted the main causes of morbidity and mortality according to ICD – 10. It was included in this study hospital records of individuals aged 60 years and over, of both sexes. Among the studied population, there was a higher incidence of hospitalization in men (55%), with 2012 being the year with the most hospitalization records and 2010 the lowest. The three main pathologies that affect the elderly are, respectively: neoplasms (23.26%); circulatory diseases (20,89%) and respiratory diseases (11,96%). The highest mortality was mostly concentrated in the following conditions: respiratory diseases (25.4%); neoplasms (22,2%) and diseases of the circulatory system (18%). The adoption throughout the state of Paraná of the Elderly Health Guide Line, in 2017, is considered a gain for the aged population, as it aims to promote the autonomy and independence of the elderly, in addition to the recognition of the rights prescribed by the Political Constitution.
