Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the epidemiological profile of users of the Center for Psychosocial Care Alcohol and other Drugs III, from the point of view of psychiatric reform and harm reduction, in order to guide actions and proposals for this population according to their characteristics and needs. A total of 569 physical records were analyzed, corresponding to the active population in the service until June 2017. This is a cross-sectional, documentary, qualitative and quantitative study, considering the collection of documentary data and analysis. The data were collected from patients' records from August to December 2017, with analysis variables: biological sex, age group, territory, diagnosis, admission year, activated devices, psychiatric hospitalizations, admission to the prison system and night reception . The data point to the male gender profile, between 35 and 44 years of age, with a higher incidence of alcohol use and concentration in the lower income areas of the capital. It was concluded that, despite advances in mental health treatment, the management of drug users is still seen as a challenge, since it is still permeated by exclusionary and segregating logic, being contrary to the ideals of psychiatric reform.
