Artificial Intelligence, Electrocardiogram, Cardiovascular HealthAbstract
Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death, with acute myocardial infarction standing out, showing an increase of over 50% in hospitalizations. Electrocardiography (ECG) is the first examination performed to identify abnormalities; however, 74% of healthcare professionals fail to correctly identify more complex cardiac rhythms. Objective: To analyze the impact of using Artificial Intelligence as an emerging technology in the interpretation and evaluation of electrocardiographic patterns. Methodology: This is a scoping review following the JBI methodology and the PRISMA-ScR 2020 guidelines. The LILACS and MEDLINE platforms were searched via BVS, as well as PubMed, BDTD, and RCAAP. The initial search located 3,965 studies; after excluding duplicates and reading the title, abstract, and full text, 38 articles remained for the final sample. Results and discussion: Artificial Intelligence has shown effectiveness in predicting, diagnosing, and assisting in decision-making regarding cardiovascular events, improving clinical outcomes. However, it still presents challenges to be faced, such as the ethical implications of privacy and acceptance by professionals. Final considerations: Despite the challenges that still exist, artificial intelligence applied to electrocardiography presents itself as a promising emerging technology in clinical practice, assisting professionals and favoring the patient's clinical outcome.
