Abstract

The research field on green exercise has grown in recent decades, however, most studies focus on aerobic modalities, leaving open the understanding of psychological effects of resistance exercises in different environmental contexts. This study investigated relationships between three types of practice environments (natural, mixed, and indoor) and psychological variables, including stress, mood, and nature relatedness, in 253 adults practicing physical activity in Paraíba. Using an online questionnaire with DASS-21, BRUMS, and ERN scales, results showed that natural and mixed environments were associated with more positive mental health indicators, such as higher vigor levels and better nature relatedness, plus lower stress, fatigue, and confusion indices. Combined adherence to different environments, especially integrating mixed environments with natural spaces, suggests that partial exposures to green scenarios can enhance restorative effects, contributing to health promotion programs and public policies.
