Abstract

This article is the result of an undergraduate research project (PIBIC), conducted with
the support of the Tocantins Research Support Foundation (FAPT). Its general
objective is to analyze the expansion of mining within the Legal Amazon territory over
the last decade (2010-2020). As specific objectives, the socioterritorial impacts
resulting from this development model were investigated, particularly for indigenous
peoples. The methodology adopted was qualitative and exploratory, situated within the
field of Applied Human Sciences. The research involved bibliographic analysis and the
collection of quantitative data provided by government agencies and NGOs to
understand the dynamics of mining in the region, grounded in the Marxist Theory of
Dependency and the concept of Global Spaces (GS) and Specific Zones of Intense
Accumulation (SZIA).
