Abstract

Urban mobility plays a key role in citizens' quality of life and impacts socio-spatial exclusion. To achieve universal accessibility, an objective of the National Urban Mobility Policy, a change in urban planning is essential, considering social, political, economic and environmental aspects. The household Origin-Destination (OD) survey appears as an essential tool to support government decisions based on population demands. This study aims to analyze OD surveys on the characterization of the population with disabilities. A case study was developed collecting OD surveys that based Urban Mobility Plans and systematization of the different variables in each profile of the population with disabilities, as well as a comparison of the approaches used. The results demonstrated that 41.67% of OD surveys still do not contemplate disabilities and, in those that do, there is great divergence of approaches, from terminology to the different disabilities considered. In conclusion, there is no satisfactory representation of this social group, which hinders access to the city. The main contributions of this study consist of identifying gaps for future investigations, as well as suggesting improvements in the methodological approach within the population with disabilities.
