Abstract

Introduction: Men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer require extensive information and support throughout the treatment process. E-Health is a way to fulfill these critical information needs. However, there is a lack of evidence on how older individuals with prostate cancer use e-Health and perceive prostate cancer, information, and support on the internet. Obective: The objective of this project is to explore the use of and perceptions towards e-Health among older adults with prostate cancer. The study design involves a survey-type research with a quantitative focus. The study population was elderly individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer and treated at the General Hospital of Palmas. The researchers analyzed socioeconomic variables, cancer characteristics, and health-related quality of life (HRQL). Two other questionnaires were used in this study to assess behaviors and experiences on the internet and reasons for using e-Health to obtain information and support. Results: With the data collected from this research, the researchers were able to understand how e-Health is used and the perception of elderly individuals with prostate cancer. Furthermore, the study assessed the level of quality of life (HRQL) of the elderly, an issue that is little highlighted in the literature, especially its relationship with e-Health.
