Abstract

This report presents a case of esophagogastroscopy with flexible endoscopy to remove an endotracheal tube lodged in the esophagus and stomach of a dog, ingested due to an anesthetic complication. Radiographic examination and subsequent esophagoscopy revealed the presence of a foreign body with an inflated balloon, caudal to the cardia. It was possible to capture the Cuff with the aid of a flexible endoscopy Aligator forceps and subsequently pierce it using a Reddick-Olsen video surgery forceps, resulting in partial deflation of the balloon. The tracheotube was removed from the stomach under endoscopic visualization and exteriorized to completely deflate the control balloon. After deflating the control balloon, it was possible to remove the endotracheal tube. The present case demonstrated the possibility of removing the endotracheal tube exclusively through flexible upper digestive endoscopy without the need for a laparotomy as presented in previous reports.
