Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) cultivation has been gaining importance in the state of Tocantins. Data shows that the state has approximately 325 thousand hectares of corn. Due to these increases, it is necessary to adopt sustainable practices that aim to boost this sector. Bacillus subtilis is a genus of bacteria that stands out among the Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) due to their ability to produce phytohormones and assist in plant resistance against phytopathogens. In the present work, the effects of B. subitilis inoculation on two varieties of corn in a greenhouse were observed, evaluating the first 20 and 40 days after emergence. The variables analyzed were: Shoot dry mass, root dry mass and total dry mass. Using biomass data, the efficiency of the B. subtilis isolate from each treatment was determined. Treatment evaluations were obtained using the F test of analysis of variance for p=0.05. From the results it was observed that the treatment with B. subtilis in terms of relative efficiency provided an increase of 52% in the first evaluation for variety VA19AVIP3 and 60% for cultivar DKB335 PRO3. In the second evaluation, the values obtained were 43% and 42% in relation to the control. Corn seeds inoculated with Bacillus subtilis resulted in plants with greater biomass accumulation
