Abstract

Innovation has been considered essential for the development of emerging economies. With this, understanding the barriers that hinder the innovative process can be crucial for obtaining better results. In this line, this study aimed to analyze the international scientific production on barriers to innovation in emerging economies in order to provide an improved understanding of the subject. Therefore, the adopted methodology can be classified as a bibliographic review with the use of bibliometrics. Data were collected from the Web of Science and analyzed using descriptive statistics. In the results obtained, an overview of scientific publications was presented in relation to the year of publication, language, countries, authors, journals and keywords. Furthermore, there was a growing concern of the international scientific community to understand the barriers to innovation in the context of emerging economies.
