Abstract

A pandemic is a worldwide dissemination of a disease that spreads itself in several countries, and that affects more than one continent. The Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), discovered in 2019, causes respiratory infections, developing the disease named Covid-19. Brazil has gotten into a tense moment due to this virus in March 2020. The main gateways to Coronavirus were the airports with international connections, accessed by people who arrived from different countries. Already in Brazil, the Coronavirus disseminates internally through regional airports, highways, and waterways. In Tocantins state, Covid-19 was initially disseminated through regional airports and highways. Porto Nacional registered the first Covid-19 case on April 19th, 2020.This paper presents a quantitative/descriptive analysis of the data which occurred in Porto Nacional since the register of the fist Covid-19 case until August 31st 2021. So, this paper could be accomplished, we’ve used data from epidemiological newsletters, and the ones of daily people care with the notification of the disease. The data were obtained through Vigilância Epidemiológica (Epidemiological Surveillance) of Porto Nacional. The women were the ones who presented positive cases the most for Covid-19, while men were the ones who had more deaths. The period of greater number of deaths occurred during the second wave of the disease in the municipality. The majority of people hospitalized by Covid-19 were hospitalized in public hospitals.
