Abstract

CAPA (Center for the Support and Promotion of Agroecology) has a significant presence in the southern region of Brazil and, especially, in the town of Marechal Cândido Rondon. For this, it has the collaboration of Itaipu Binacional. Thus, the objective of this work was to trace CAPA's timeline and analyze the effects of the end of the agreement with Itaipu Binacional in 2021. A case study was carried out based on semi-structured interviews and bibliographical research for the creation of two lines of the time, the first referring to the historical context that drove the creation of CAPA and the second to its trajectory (1978-2021). Regarding Itaipu Binacional, a table was created to compare the period with the active (2021) and inactive (2022) agreement. It was found that alternative practices, such as the adoption of homeopathy and the promotion of participatory organic certification with the Rede Ecovida de Agroecologia, are the most significant contributions to family farming. It is concluded that the end of the agreement with Itaipu Binacional reduced the CAPA technical team and the number of assisted families, negatively impacting the financial functioning of the organization providing TARE (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension) and, in the activities of municipal agroecological production and territorial.
