Abstract

The text presents the theoretical-methodological bases that are present in most of the works carried out by MALOCA – Group of Multidisciplinary Studies in Architectures and Urbanisms of the South, based at UNILA – Federal University of the Latin American Integration. We have used Dialectical Historical Materialism and Decolonial Thought for their relevance to a geopolitical understanding of architecture with, in and from Latin America and, specifically, with, in and from the Cerrado biome and the Amazon biome. This dialectical exercise must be done from the territory, necessarily connecting its various scales, each requiring different, inseparable and complementary approaches. In the scale of the used territory by man and woman in their everyday territory and spatialities, the authors activate an ethnographic and semiotic approach, without losing the connection with the geohistorical and political analysis and the more abstract scale. It is in  this action-reflection, on multiple scales,  that we have directed our efforts, seeking to foster a permanent debate that respects the autonomy of male and female students, valuing and respecting  their culture and their collection of empirical knowledge, in the teaching-learning process.
