Abstract

Spatial-geographic representation has always been associated with the elaboration of images, and in the literature we find a number of studies that investigate the relationship between geography and art, space and image, and landscape and painting, such as the studies of Ferraz (2009), Oliveira Jr. (2009), Seemann (2009) and Marandola Jr. (2010), among many other researchers. In the specific case of our research carried out in Araguaína (TO), studies exploring geography and art turn to the urban culture intriguing geographers, urban planners and architects through manifestations of urban art and its communication with colors and shapes on city walls, in the form of graffiti. Moreover, the words and symbols of a generally political nature are also expressed on these walls, demarcating on the city map the presence of social groups that claim their right to use the city through their tagging in public urban spaces.
