Abstract

In Tocantins, climatic conditions are favorable for the cultivation of forage plants, enabling high agricultural productivity. Therefore, to solve problems such as incorrect handling of forage species application, the No-Tillage System (SPD) is inserted. This work aimed to evaluate the growth and half-life in brachiarão and andropogon in monoculture and intercropping systems under three levels of fertilization. The experiment took place under a dystrophic Red Latosol, submitted to 13 years of cultivation, being: 8 years under conventional system with the use of plowing and leveling harrows; 2 years under minimum cultivation using subsoiler and leveling harrow afterwards and 3 years under no-tillage system at a depth of 0 to 20 cm. The brachiaria and andropogon species in consortium found greater height when 20% of chemical fertilization was applied and this consortium influenced the permanence on the soil surface for a longer time, however the fertilization helped in the decomposition of the straw according to the half-life time. In a consortium system, the height of the plants favored 20% of fertilization; millet in monoculture showed higher growth in height and sorghum underperformed and fertilization influenced the reduction in the half-life of production systems.
