Abstract

This study reveals changes in the perception of financial well-being, as well as the perception of financial anxiety and financial risk during the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample comprised Brazilians over 18 years old, totaling 1,222 respondents. The analysis was performed using three techniques: Descriptive analysis that characterizes the respondents' profile, Exploratory factor analysis that establishes the correlation of the observable variables and organizes them into factors, and finally the Analysis of variance that checks if there is a significant difference between the means . In general, the results showed for 60.3% of the interviewees that there was no change in their financial situation, while 3.7% indicated that they had lost all income and are living with the help of third parties. For individuals who had their income decreased, the level of financial well-being was on average significantly lower than the group that remained the same. Regarding financial anxiety and financial risk, practically the same comparisons were identified for the two factors, that is, individuals with lower income had a higher perception of anxiety and financial risk. Regarding the perception of the risk of being infected with the coronavirus, 60.7% of the interviewees believe that it is “probable” that the same will happen.
