ELABORAÇÕES LINGUÍSTICO-DISCURSIVAS DA EMPATIA NA CONTEMPORANEIDADE
UM ESTUDO BASEADO EM CORPUS SOBRE OS USOS SOCIAIS DO TERMO NA LÍNGUA INGLESA

A obra A corpus linguistic approach to analyzing “empathy” (Routledge, 2026), de Sabrina Fusari, investiga o perfil lexicogramatical da empatia mediante análise do corpus English Web 2020. Examinam-se divergências entre definições neurocientíficas e o uso social, utilizando a linguística sistêmico-funcional para identificar as metafunções ideacional, interpessoal e textual. Os resultados indicam que o uso leigo reifica a empatia como mercadoria quantificável. Observa-se que o deslocamento morfológico por meio da nominalização do verbo correlato condensa processos interpessoais, à medida que a passividade sintática do termo sugere uma entidade estática. A pesquisa valida a eficácia de grandes corpora para elucidar a construção discursiva de estados internos. Além disso, o estudo fundamenta a compreensão da empatia como construto complexo, trazendo implicações diretas para áreas clínicas, psicológicas e para os estudos de linguagem.
