SOCIAL ESTEEM AND LANGUAGES OF SOLIDARITY: people with Down syndrome and the struggle for recognition

The purpose of this article is to analyze manifestations of online solidarity involving people with Down Syndrome and their relatives in light of the grammar developed by A. Honneth for the examination of the moral conditions of self-realization, with emphasis on the social distribution of esteem. The goal is to understand contemporary forms of solidarity and, at the same time, to illuminate what these expressions of solidarity would offer to the understanding of processes of struggle for recognition. At the end, it is evident in these interactions that the expressions of solidarity depend directly on the forms of solidarity appeal by the people involved in the struggle for recognition.
