Norman Sims was the first keynote speaker of the conferences held by the International Association for Literary Journalism Studies. Renowned as one of the greatest specialists in literary journalism, his is an inescapable name when it comes to that journalistic genre. He is also a man of multiple interests with a passion for canoeing and a writer about the history of North-American canoes. His legacy has influenced many generations of researchers and academics dedicated to the study of literary journalism, also known as narrative journalism.
