YOUTH IS A RIGHT FOR WHOM? PROCESSES OF CLAIMING THE RIGHT TO YOUTH IN MARANHÃO

To whom is given the right to be young in Brazil? This question is the basis of this article that brings elements of field research conducted in the cities of Codó and Imperatriz, two cities in the interior of Maranhão, during the months of July to September 2018. Through semi-structured and in-depth interviews, 5 youth leaders in the city of Codó and 4 in the city of Imperatriz, reflected on processes of articulation and political formation and strategies produced for the claim of youth citizenship. We identified how different social markers alter the perception and experiences of youth (AKOTIRENE, 2019; WELLER, 2005). We conclude that denouncing inequalities is a citizen-political dimension to elaborate new youth existences. Mobilization strategies structured by communication.
